Stakeholder Info

A Stakeholder in the Capitol Clean Cities of Connecticut is a member of the organization. There are no obligations, however the stakeholder commits to:

  • Support the goals of the U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities Program, and
  • Work with other coalition stakeholders to promote the use of alternative fuel vehicles, increase vehicle mileage and reduce heavy duty vehicle idling.

In a nutshell what we do is help decrease our dependence in imported oil and improve air quality.

Capitol Clean Cities has assisted in projects for many of our stakeholders.

Generally we help obtain grants (some of which are only available to Clean Cities Stakeholders), provide information on vehicles, performance, etc. One grant program, sponsored by ConnDOT, called the CMAQ Alternate Fuel Vehicle program provides funds to cover the incremental cost between a standard fuel vehicle and an AFV model, e.g.: If a Compressed Natural Gas vehicle cost $7,000 more then  a gasoline model this grant would cover the additional cost in full. A Hybrid might cost $5,000 more than its' gasoline model—CMAQ would cover this cost. This grant program is available to any municipality or a limited private/public entity.
